Kate Hill Donation to Help Send Fort Hill Grads to FSU
The first recipients of the Kate Dailey Hill Scholarships are, from left, Rachel Dillon, Angela Amezcua, Mindy Johnson and Laura Lehman. In the back are Wray Blair, FSU Enrollment Management; Susan Cook, FHHS; and Jack Aylor, FSUF.
The late Kate Dailey Hill, a 1947 graduate of Fort Hill High School, had the welfare of her fellow alumni at heart. Her bequest, through the Kate Dailey Hill Trust, has provided a $500,000 endowment to benefit students from Fort Hill to attend Frostburg State University.

"Kate was keenly aware of the need for local students to have access to higher education. She had several close friends on the FSUF Board of Directors, and they were influential in keeping her abreast of FSU’s programs and needs,” said Jack Aylor, director of development and executive director of the FSU Foundation Inc.

Both of Hill’s children were FSU graduates, the late William D. Dailey in 1977 and the late Diane Dailey Green in 1979. Hill died Dec. 31, 2005. She made a similar bequest to Allegany College of Maryland. “This will be a renewal scholarship to benefit students up to four years," Aylor said. Initial gifts will be $2,500 per year, with a potential total award of $10,000 over four years.

"The Kate Dailey Hill Scholarships help create educational opportunities for Fort Hill graduates,” said Wray Blair, FSU Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. “Frostburg State University is so pleased to be able to award these scholarships to these very deserving students. It is our goal and mission to help make all of the benefits of a Frostburg education available to students from our local area. We will continue to seek out ways to honor and assist our local students."

The FSU Foundation is having a record-setting year for gifts and pledges in support of Frostburg State University with over $2.3 million in gifts and pledge including $200,000 to the FSUF Annual Fund. "Planned gift and deferred gift programs provide attractive methods for individuals to make a significant and lasting impact on university programs,” noted Aylor.

The FSUF manages assets exceeding $14 million, providing over $2 million of annual support for FSU students and programs. For more information contact the FSU Foundation at 301-687-4200 or via the Web at www.frostburg.edu/admin/foundation/ .
