DOVER, DE —
Frostburg State junior running back Edward Kearney (Bel Air, Md./Calvert)
and senior defensive tackle George O'Brien (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore)
were each honored by the Atlantic Central Football Conference for their performances in the Bobcats' 38-17 win over two-time defending league champion Wesley Saturday.
Kearney took home the ACFC Offensive Player of the Week award after his big day against the Wolverines.
He carried 30 times for 122 yards and two rushing touchdowns, and he also caught a scoring pass to pace the Bobcats to the convincing win. Kearney found the end zone on runs of 29 and 5 yards and snared an 11-yard touchdown pass from Grant Burrough.
Kearney earned his second straight ACFC weekly honor; he shared Offensive Player of the Week honors two weeks ago after running for 185 yards and two scores in FSU's 48-14 pounding of Oberlin.
O'Brien picked up his first ACFC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season with an outstanding effort against Wesley.
He made nine tackles, including 1.5 sacks, and added an interception that led to a touchdown while helping the Bobcat defense hold the Wolverines to just 36 rushing yards.
Salisbury freshman quarterback Dustin Johnson was named the ACFC Rookie of the Week after running for 141 yards and two touchdowns and passing for 49 yards and another score in SU's 35-7 win over Chowan.
