GIBSONIA, PA —
Frostburg State senior forward Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast)
was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Monday for her record-setting performance in the Bobcats’ 11-0 win over Pitt-Bradford Sunday.
Kotofski set school records with six goals and 14 points in the blowout. She assisted on FSU’s second and third goals of the day before recording five straight goals to end the first half. She found the net again to start the scoring in the second stanza.
Kotofski’s six goals ties for the third-highest single-game total in NCAA Division III history. She is the 23rd player to accomplish the feat.
The Division III single-game record is 10 goals by Franklin & Marshall’s Beth Byrne versus Wilkes October 29, 1988. Four players have scored seven goals in a game.
Kotofski’s 14 points are the fourth-most in Division III history, accomplished by 11 other players. Byrne also holds the record with 20 points.
Kotofski currently leads the AMCC with 11 goals and 29 points. She is also tied for the league lead with seven assists.
The Bobcats (4-1-2, 1-0-0 AMCC) return to action Wednesday at Mount Aloysius at 4:00 pm.
