Kotofski Named to NSCAA Regional First Team
12/06/2003

FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State junior Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, Md.) was named to the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Great Lakes regional first team.

Kotofski, who was also named to the 2003 Verizon/CoSida Academic All-District II Second Team for the second consecutive season, was named to the 2002 NSCAA Great Lakes regional third team.

Kotofski, the 2003 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Year, set four school records in 2003 on her way to leading the Bobcats to their third straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship. Her 24 goals surpass her old single-season mark of 21 that she set as a freshman in 2001. Her 53 points topped her single-season mark that she also set in 2001.

In her three seasons at Frostburg State, she has accumulated school-records of 62 career goals and 138 points. Both marks broke Amy Foote’s records of 49 goals and 118 points set in 2001.

This season, Kotofski and the Bobcats won their first regular-season AMCC championship, set a school-record by compiling a 12-game winning streak on their way to making their third straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Kotofski is now in the running for NSCAA All-America recognition as she was voted to the regional first team. All-America honors will be released in mid-December.
