STEVENSON, MD —
Junior Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast)
scored once and added an assist to lead visiting Frostburg State past Villa Julie 2-0 Friday afternoon.
Kotofski opened the scoring with an unassisted tally in the first half, giving her 48 career goals to tie Amy Foote's Bobcat career mark set from 1998-2001.
Kotofski later assisted on FSU's second goal, sending a crossing pass to junior Erika Neuser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston), who punched the ball in from close range.
Kotofski now has 107 career points (48 goals, 11 assists) and needs 11 more to tie Foote's school record of 118.
The Bobcats (5-4) outpossessed the scrappy Mustangs (0-11) for much of the second half and narrowly missed on several scoring chances.
Frostburg State opens its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference slate on Tuesday when it visits La Roche for a 3:00 pm match.
The teams split two close contests last year.
La Roche claimed a 2-1 win in the regular season, but the Bobcats avenged the defeat with a thrilling victory in the AMCC title match, winning 3-1 in penalty kicks after the teams battled to a 2-2 deadlock through two overtimes.
