— Led by sophomore standout Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County)
, the Bobcats,(3-2), led 11-5 at halftime and scored 11 more goals in the second half to win the competition 22-7.
Methodist opened scoring when it found the net at 1:40 into the game. An FSU bombardment soon followed. Macey scored at 6:00 followed immediately by a score from sophomore Caitlin Howley (Damascus, Md./Damascus) at 6:25.
Shortly after, at 7:13, freshman Kelly Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) found the net off an assist from Macey. Less than a minute later, Macey assisted freshman Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) when Ritz scored at 7:58. Ritz found the net again at 9:19.
Howley managed to score her second goal at 9:36 off an assist from Macey and Macey added the next goal at 17:49. The Lady Monarchs added a pair of goals when they scored at 18:22 and 19:22. One minute later, freshman Kate Nicol (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg) scored for the Red and Black off an assist from Howley at 20:22.
Methodist added another goal at 23:21, but Duncan was quick to answer when she scored at 23:49. Shortly after, at 24:45, Methodist chalked-up its final goal of the half.
Up 9-5, the Bobcats netted two more. Nicol found the net off an assist from Duncan at 29:21 and Macey capped scoring for the first half with her third goal.
In the second, FSU came out shooting. Sophomore Melissa Tomko (Pallotti/Laurel, Md.) found the net at 1:59 off an assist from Duncan.
Macey kept the streak alive as she scored at 3:10 off an assist from Duncan and Duncan turned around and scored her third goal at 3:43.
Tomko added to the scoreboard when she found the net at 5:30 and Nicol netted her third goal of the game at 7:59.
Just over a minute later, at 9:04, Ritz scored her third goal. The Lady Monarchs scored one at 13:08, but fell victim to four more Bobcat goals when freshman Tara Blake (Arundel/Crofton, Md.) found the net at 14:36, Ritz scored off an assist from Tomko at 16:18, Howley scored at 17:30 and Macey found the net at 21:34.
In a last attempt to better their stats, Methodist scored at 23:42, but Macey slammed the door and capped scoring for the match at 26:45 with her sixth goal on the day.
"Caitlin [Howley] had a great game today and Macey scored six times with three assists," said head coach Eric Day. "The girls hussled extremely well coming off our win against Roanoke on Monday. We played with even more intensity."
Frostburg State returns to action on Friday, March 28th when it visits Marymount at 3:00 p.m.
