LEXINGTON, VA —
Kate Lester scored three goals to lead Washington & Lee to a 17-3 victory over visiting Frostburg State Wednesday afternoon in women’s lacrosse action.
The Generals (3-1) started the game with three goals in the opening three minutes of play. Senior Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and sophomore Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) netted back-to-back goals for the Bobcats (1-2) to come within 3-2.
W&L ended the half with six consecutive goals, to lead 9-2 at intermission.
Washington & Lee continued to pour it on, by opening the second half with six straight goals to take a commanding 15-2 lead. Lamont scored off an assist from Ritz in the 51st minute, but the Generals capped the scoring with two more goals to capture the win.
FSU freshman goalie Erin Morrell (Easton, Md./Easton) made 10 saves in the loss.
Frostburg State returns to action Sunday, March 12 when it travels to Greensboro for a game beginning at 1:00 pm.
