— Led by Shannon Jarrett, Salisbury University used its offensive power to cruise to a 14-1 halftime lead before tacking on five more goals in the second half to secure a 19-3 win over Frostburg State.
In the first half, Salisbury built a 10-goal lead before FSU was able to score. Amber Stansbury opened scoring for the Sea Gulls when she scored the first of her three goals at 5:31. Shortly after, at 6:09, Linda Ackermann scored the first of her three goals.
Less than a minute later, Jarrett scored the first of her four goals on the day, notching the count to 3-0. At 9:13, Lynsey Bateman found the net, followed by another goal from Ackermann and then another goal from Jarrett.
Stansbury found the net again at 15:09, followed by two more goals from Jarrett and a goal from Bateman.
Now down 10-0, the Red and Black got on the board when offensive leader sophomore Page Macey (North County/Linthicum, Md.) tacked on a goal at 18:35. Salisbury was quick to reply when Jarret netted her fourth goal at 21:26. Stansbury, Ackermann, Katie Zielinski and Sarah Slafkosky each followed with a goal, notching the score to 14-1 at the half.
In the second stanza, Amanda Tack added back-to-back goals followed by another Zielinski goal at 11:30.
Freshman Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) put in a great effort when she replied with two goals. Her first at 16:13, her second at 23:20 off an assist from freshman Kate Nicol (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg).
Now up 17-3, Emily Dutch found the net for the Sea Gulls at 25:20. Liz Funk capped Salisbury scoring for the day when she found the net at 29:04.
Frostburg State, now 4-3, returns to action on Tuesday, April 8th when it hosts Catholic at 4:00 p.m.
