Lentine Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Shuts Out La Roche and Clinches First Place in AMCC
FROSTBURG, Md. —
Frostburg State freshman Lauren Lentine (Princeton, N.J./WWP North)
scored two goals to carry FSU to a 3-0 shutout of La Roche Tuesday evening at Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats (10-5, 9-0 AMCC) earned their ninth-straight victory and locked up first place in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season as well as home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Lentine put the hosts on the board in the 26th minute when she tracked down a through ball and slipped it past the Redhawk keeper for her team-leading 10th goal of the season.
Frostburg State got off five more shots the rest of the first half but couldn’t find the net as the game went into intermission with the Bobcats ahead 1-0.
Lentine added her second score of the contest at 62:41 off a pass from teammate Katie Emminger (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall).
Emminger added an insurance goal 20 minutes later off a corner kick taken by freshman Kiley Williams (Millersville, Md./Severna Park).
Frostburg State outshot La Roche (7-8-2, 5-2-2 AMCC) 19-7 and held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-0
Freshman Stephanie Gwinn (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) was in net for the entire game for FSU improving her record to 10-1 overall on the season and 9-0 in the conference. Gwinn also increased her conference shutout span to just over 692 minutes.
The Bobcats return to the field on Thursday when they host Villa Julie at Bobcat Stadium at 6:00 pm.
