Frostburg State freshman Chris Lentz (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run)
has been named the Atlantic Central Football Conference Rookie of the Week after his strong performance this past Saturday against Brockport.
Lentz, who earned conference Rookie of the Week honors for the second time in three games this season, posted his second 14-tackle effort of the year and recovered his second fumble of the season in FSU's 31-25 triple-overtime loss to the Golden Eagles.
Salisbury senior running back Tony Ellis took home ACFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after running for 176 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries to lead the Sea Gulls to a 23-18 win over Greensboro. Ellis scored on runs of 70 and 36 yards as the Seagulls improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1986.
Apprentice sophomore linebacker Fred Canady was named the ACFC Defensive Player of the Week. He posted nine tackles, including five sacks, forced a fumble that led to a touchdown and added a safety in the Builders' 29-22 defeat of Chowan on Saturday.
