Literacy expert Dr. Barbara McDonald will present a workshop on "Signing on for Change: Engagement in the Learning Process for Adults," Friday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Leake Room of Frostburg State University's Cordts Physical Education Center.
The workshop will share research on adult literacy and personality and social outcomes, as well as the effect the adult learner's literacy has on their children. It is designed for those interested in adult literacy, teachers, tutors, researchers and psychologists. Continuing education credits are available for psychologists.
McDonald is co-director of Project FULFILL, a three-year study of California State Library adult learners and their tutors. She has conducted research studies in the areas of adult learning, motivation and learning strategies for more than 20 years. She is also a lecturer in the Psychology Department at San Diego State University.
