— Frostburg State scored two late goals, but it wasn't enough as host McDaniel College won Tuesday afternoon, 5-2.
The Bobcat (2-6) defense and goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) were stellar in the first half as they played scoreless with the nationally 5th ranked Green Terror until the 28th minute when Kristin Talarovich netted a goal.
McDaniel (6-0) opened up the second-half by scoring three goals in a nine-minute span to take the lead 4-0. FSU answered when Becca Huber (Walkersville/Walkersville, Md.) scored a goal on an assist from Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) in the 65th minute. Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) then scored less than two minutes later to make the score 4-2, before McDaniel tallied a goal in the last minute.
Cousin made a career-high 15 saves in net, while Sarah Tipsword (McDonough/White Plains, Md.) and Elizabeth Armstrong (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) both had defensive saves for the Bobcats.
Frostburg State returns to action on September 20th when it travels to Roanoke College at 1:00 p.m.
