Men's Basketball Defeats Medaille, 98-79

FROSTBURG, MD — Sophomore Keith Hazel (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) netted a team-high 26 points and added two steals in the Frostburg State men’s basketball 98-79 victory over visiting Medaille Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, while the Mavericks fell to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

FSU held the advantage shooting 52% from the floor and 91% from the foul line, while MC shot just 43% from the floor and 56 from the charity stripe. The Bobcats led 45-33 at the break.

In the second half, the Bobcats continued to control the game never letting the Mavericks come closer than 11 points.

Redshirt-sophomore Brain Owen (Gainesville, Va./Brentsville) scored 22 points and added a team-high nine assists, senior Daniel Ryley (Frederick, Md./St. John’s Prospect Hall) had 21 points and a team-high eight rebounds and two blocks, and senior Marcus McIntyre (Washington, D.C./Wilson) added 12 points and four assists.

James McNeil paced the Mavericks with 38 points and two steals and grabbed six rebounds. Scott Hack added 17 points and five assists.

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, January 17 as they travel to Penn State Altoona for an AMCC game beginning at 8:00 pm.
