CRESSON, PA —
While the Houston Astros have Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio, the Frostburg State men's basketball team may have found its own version of the "Killer B's" in junior Pierre Bowery (Kensington, Md./Albert Einstein)
and senior Sean Brown (Baltimore, Md./North County)
Bowery posted his second straight double-double, scoring a game-high 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, while Brown had 21 points and five assists to lead the Bobcats to a 74-57 win over host Mount Aloysius Monday night.
FSU extended its season-high winning streak to three games to improve to 5-3 overall. The Mounties fell to 1-9.
Bowery, who added a career-high seven blocked shots, and Brown — who has scored at least 20 points in each of FSU's last five games — have combined to score 155 of FSU's 250 points over the last three games, a whopping 62 percent.
Frostburg State held a slight 33-32 lead at halftime before outscoring the Mounties, 41-25, in the second stanza.
Bowery hit 10-of-16 shots and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Brown was 7-of-16 from the floor, went 4-for-4 from the line and added two rebounds and two steals.
Mike Lestochi led Mount Aloysius with 18 points, while John Jackson added 11.
The Bobcats held the Mounties to 33.9 percent shooting (21-of-62) and forced 18 turnovers.
Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday, December 22 when its visits Christopher Newport, ranked No. 2 in the most recent national poll, for a 4 p.m. game.
