Men's Basketball Falls To Shenandoah, 81-77

Winchester, Va. — Frostburg State fell to host Shenandoah, 81-77, on Tuesday night in the Shingleton Gymnasium.

The Bobcats (3-2) jumped out to an early 11-6 lead on a jumper from junior Davon Collier (Baltimore, Md./Douglass (Baltimore City CC), with just under 14 minutes remaining in the first half.

There would be seven lead changes and ties over the next five minutes, until Collier hit a lay-up with five miuntes remaining to give FSU its biggest lead of the first half, 26-20.

Shenandoah (4-1) would then outscore the Bobcats, 12-7, to end the half trailing by one, 33-32.

The Hornets came out firing in the second-half outscoring Frostburg State, 18-7, to take a 50-40 with 15 minutes remaining in the game. SU would take its biggest lead of the game, 61-50, with 10 minutes remaining.

Frostburg State would then go on a 12-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 62-61 lead. Seniors Brandon Howell (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and Daniel Ryley (Frederick, Md./St. John's Prospect Hall) each had four points during the run.

The two teams would battle back and forth until Shenandoah broke a 70-70 tie with seven straight points to take a commanding lead with two minutes remaining.

Ryley led the Bobcats with 17 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Brian Green Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) added 12 points and four steals.

Frostburg State returns to action on Friday when it opens up Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play against Pitt-Bradford at 8:00 p.m.
