Men's Basketball Loses to Penn State Behrend

FROSTBURG, MD — Kevin Buczynski and David Gahan scored in double figures to lead Penn State Behrend to a 65-50 victory over host Frostburg State in men’s basketball action Saturday night at Bobcat Arena.

The Bobcats fall to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, while the Lions improves to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.

FSU took its first and last lead of the game, 2-0, off a layup by senior Daniel Ryley (Frederick, Md./St. John's Prospect Hall) 27 seconds into the game. A three-pointer by senior Brandon Howell (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase ) would bring Frostburg State to within two, 19-17, with 7:08 left in the first half. PSB then used a 15-4 run to command the game 34-21 at the break.

In the second half, the Bobcats would come as close as 11 points off a free throw from senior Dawan El-Amin (Baltimore, Md./Academy Park (Catonsville CC)) with 1:19 remaining in the game.

Ryley led FSU with 15 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Brian Green Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) added four assists and four steals.

Gahan paced the Lions with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Buczynski added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Frostburg State returns to action Tuesday as it travels to Mary Washington for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 pm.
