The Frostburg State University men’s basketball team has been picked to finish second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference according to a vote taken by the league’s head coaches.
The Bobcats return two starters and four letterwinners from last year’s sqaud that posted a 15-13 overall record and finished third in the AMCC with a 6-6 mark. FSU advanced to the conference championship game where it fell to La Roche 44-42 in overtime.
Pitt-Greensburg, which returns seven letterwinners and three starters, is the favorite to win the men’s title. UPG (14-13, 7-5 AMCC) finished second in last year’s regular-season standings but was upset by Frostburg State 57-51 in the AMCC Tournament semifinals.
Penn State Behrend was picked to finish third. The Lions (22-4, 11-1) won the AMCC regular-season title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year.
Pitt-Greensburg senior guard Kevin Conlon is the Preseason Player of the Year. The two-time first-team All-AMCC selection averaged 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.96 assists and 1.58 steals last season.
