PLEASANT, Pa. —
The Frostburg State men’s cross country team won its fifth consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference meet Saturday afternoon hosted by Pitt-Greensburg at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds.
As a team, the men scored 20 points followed by a second place finish from Penn State Behrend with 52 points and a third place finish from Pitt-Greensburg with 80.
Sophomore Curt Ruble (Mineral Wells, W.Va./Parkersburg South) finished second overall and first for the Bobcats with a time of 27:32. Freshman Marshal Lawrence (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) and junior Ed May (Bryantown, Md./La Plata) came in second and third with times of 27:53 and 27:58, respectively.
Junior Andy Watson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and senior Sid Bittinger (Midland, Md./Westmar) rounded out the top five for FSU finishing fifth (28:17) and sixth (28:24).
The men’s team had seven runners named to the AMCC All-Conference team. They are Ruble, Lawrence, May, Watson, Bittinger, senior Ron Lipscomb (Avilton, Md./Northern Garrett) and sophomore Zachary Gaudette (Queenstown, Md./Kent Island).
On the women’s side, the team finished third overall with 68 points. Penn State Altoona took home first with 35 points followed Penn State Behrend with 59.
Freshman Jennifer Patton (Barton, Md./Westmar) led FSU capturing third place with a time of 25:56. Senior Carolyn Kilkus (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) finished in sixth overall (26:39) and sophomore Katie Lyell (Newark, Del./Newark) finished in 10th (27:19).
Freshman Megan Patton (Barton,Md./Westmar) crossed the line in 16th place (28:35) and classmate Diane Barker (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) was 35th (32:48).
Jennifer Patton, Kilkus and Lyell were named to the All-AMCC team.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, November 12 when they travel to Carlisle, Pa. for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships.
