— The Frostburg State men’s soccer team defeated Medaille, 3-1, Saturday afternoon to extend its winning streak to four games.
Freshman Trevor Havey (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) got FSU on the board first with his fifth goal of the season in the 29th minute off a feed from senior Jamie Romano (Joppatowne, Md./John Carroll).
Junior Kodjo Gnatiko (Montgomery Village, Md./Montgomery Blair) scored the first of his two goals on the afternoon in the 34th minute as freshman Eric Whisman (Severn, Md./Glen Burnie) recorded his team-leading fifth assist to give FSU a 2-0 halftime lead.
In the 63rd minute, Maverick Cory Cwiklinksi converted a penalty kick to narrow the Bobcat lead to 2-1.
Gnatiko would put the game away in the 75th minute off a pass from sophomore Jo-Jo Duah (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook(Potomac State)).
Sophomore Derek Richardson (New Windsor, Md./Linganore) picked up his first career win, making five saves.
The Bobcats improve to 7-3-1 and 3-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference while Medaille slips to 5-6-1 and 1-2 in conference play.
The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday when they host Pitt-Greensburg at 4:00 pm.
