FROSTBURG, MD —
The Frostburg State men’s soccer team blanked visiting Hilbert 4-0 to close out its regular-season Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats improved to 8-9 overall and 6-3 in the AMCC, while the Hawks fell to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in the league.
Sophomore Sean Tana (Baldwin, Md./Loyola Blakefield (NC Wesleyan)) netted the game’s first goal just 10 minutes into play, while his classmate Eric Whisman (Severn, Md./Gen Burnie) scored in the 39th minute off a penalty kick. The half ended 2-0 in favor of FSU.
In the second half, sophomore Kenny Dotter (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) knocked the ball past Hilbert goalie Thomas Cone in the 52nd minute. Junior Sean Quealy (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) ended the scoring with a goal off a feed from senior Ricky Bockari (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross) in the 61st minute.
Senior Derek Richardson (New Market, Md./Linganore) played 63:37 minutes, while freshman Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) finished the remaining 26:23 for the combined shutout.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday as they host a non-conference game against Villa Julie at 3:30 pm
