first collegiate hat-trick, Frostburg State shutout Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent LaRoche 4-0, extending its unbeaten streak to seven.
The Bobcats (5-3-2, 3-0 AMCC) were led in the first half by Moffa when he found the net in the 12th minute off an assist from junior Jamie Romano (John Carroll/Joppatowne, Md.).
In the 26th minute, Moffa scored again to bring the score to 2-0.
Senior Rob Burns (Joppatowne/Joppatowne, Md.) tallied the next goal for the Red and Black in the 35th minute off another Romano assist.
The Redhawks (6-7-2,1-2 AMCC), now trailing 3-0, were bested by Moffa one more time when he found the net in the 68th minute, capping Bobcat scoring for the day. Moffa now leads the Bobcat offense with six goals on the season.
The Bobcats outshot LaRoche 18-14 and had the edge in corners, 7-4.
Freshman Tom Sadler (Sandy Spring Friends/Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Bryn Varhol (Bishop O'Connell/Alexandria, Va.) pitched in for the shutout. Sadler recorded seven saves, and Varhol three.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, October 18th, when they visit AMCC opponent Pitt- Bradford at 3:30 pm.
