Frostburg State University had a solid 4-0 win over Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford today to win their first home victory of the season.
Senior Jay Levesque (Bishop O’Connell/Falls Church, Va.), junior Onyibo Ilochi (Rockville/Silver Spring, Md.), sophomore Jamie Romano (John Carrol/Joppatowne, Md.) and freshman Matt Moffa (Eastern Tech/Baltimore, Md.) each found the net to bolster FSU’s season record to 2-4-2.
At 31:41 in the first half, Levesque rallied through a pack of defenders and scored his first career goal to give FSU a 1-0 lead and set the tone for offense. Ten minutes later, Ilochi found the net with the assist from senior R.J. Purnell (Crisfield/Crisfield, Md.) off a corner kick to go up 2-0.
In the second minute of the second half, Romano drew blood off an assist from Steve Brett (Fort Hill/Cumberland, Md.) notched the score to 3-0. With the electricity of scoring running through the FSU offense, Moffa landed his first goal of the season at 12:14 off an assist from senior Sean Simpson (Kennedy/Silver Spring, Md.) driving the final score to 4-0.
Senior goalie Mike Pregnall (Oakton/Herndon, Va.) had some impressive stops, totaling six saves for the day.
Junior Panther goalie Jason Kuczmanski had six saves, but couldn’t cage the offense as the Bobcats outshot the Panthers 25-10.
The Bobcats, now 1-1 in the AMCC, return to action September 24th at Bethany (W.Va.) College at 4:00 p.m.
