Frostburg, Md. —
Freshman Joel Shank found the net off a touch to the middle from sophomore Eric Blosser at 8:06 left in the second overtime to give Eastern Mennonite a hard-fougft 1-0 win over Frostburg State Tuesday afternoon.
Although the Bobcats (0-1-1) out-shot, EMU, 17-10, the defense broke down and the Royals (2-1) delivered the Bobcats their first loss of the season.
In the first half, senior Mike Pregnall (Oaktown/Herndon, Va.) made a huge stop at the 30 minute mark. Shortly after,Shank ironically missed a seemingly easy penalty kick.
In the second half at 14:15, sophomore Marcus Doe (Germantown/Germantown, Md.), who had four shots on the day, took a big shot that couldn't quite find the net. At 12:20 there was a lot of action close to the EMU goal, as three Bobcats got a foot on the ball, but could not send it in.
During the first overtime, the Bobcats looked pumped to close the game and junior Nate Depasquale (North Stafford/Stafford, Va.)showed impressive defensive hustle. The Bobcat defense rallied all the way into the second overtime until the Royals notched the game-winner
The Bobcats return to action on Friday at John Carroll at 7:30 as part of the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament.
