Men's Soccer Falls to Richard Stockton in Opening Round of Stockton Seashore Classic
POMONA, NJ —
The Frostburg State men's soccer team lost to Richard Stockton 5-2 Friday evening in the opening round of the Stockton Seashore Classic.
Senior Matt Moffa (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) headed in a corner kick to give the Bobcats (1-3) an early 1-0 lead. Freshman Adam Gracia (Rockville, Md./Thomas Wootton) was credited with the assist.
After Scott Adams tied the game for the Ospreys, Moffa scored his second goal of the game on a 25-yard free kick to give FSU the 2-1 advantage. However, the game would be tied at two when a Richard Stockton throw-in glanced off a Bobcat defender and found the net.
The game would enter halftime tied at 2-2.
Richard Stockton scored the game-winning goal just 1:10 into the second half on a penalty kick by Eric Lewis. The Ospreys would tack-on two more goals to bring the scoring to a close.
“We played hard but the third goal put us on our heels and didn’t recover,” said Head Coach Keith Byrnes. “I’m disappointed in our composure and our collapses on defense cost us goals. If we want to compete on a national level, we have to play a full 90 minutes without mistakes.”
Frostburg State returns to action on tomorrow when they face William Patterson at 1:00 pm.
