WILLIAMSPORT, PA —
Susquehanna used two second-half goals to seal a 4-1 victory over the the Frostburg State men’s soccer team on the first day of the Lycoming Tournament, Saturday afternoon.
Susquehanna (1-0) scored first at the 7:46 mark when Justin Makar slipped a shot past FSU senior keeper Bryn Varhol (Alexandria, Va./Bishop O'Connell). The Bobcats (0-1) answered 29 seconds later when sophomore Trevor Havey (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) found the net while freshman Adam Gracia (Rockville, Md./Thomas Wootton) was credited with the assist.
The game remained tied until the 43rd minute when Matt Gawlas scored to give Susquehanna a 2-1 lead. Gracia had a chance to even the score for the Bobcats, but his shot sailed high and Susquehanna retained its lead at the half.
The Crusaders extended their lead to 3-1 when Gawlas scored his second goal of the afternoon at 57:13 on the assist from Joe Essock.
Just over four minutes later, Susquehanna’s Seth Baughman scored to close the scoring and seal the victory.
Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow when it faces Lycoming at 11:00 am.
