FROSTBURG, MD —
Frostburg State braved the cold rain and came back to defeat visiting Washington & Jefferson, 3-2, Tuesday afternoon.
Junior Onyibo Ilochi (Rockville/Silver Spring, Md.) scored the game-winner with seven minutes remaining to complete the rally and give FSU its fifth straight victory.
Senior R.J. Purnell (Crisfield/Crisfield, Md.) opened the scoring with a shot across the middle off an assist from Ilcohi at 29:32 of the first half.
In the second half, sophomore Andy Komar pulled the Presidents even on an assist from senior Anton Mancinelli-Loffreda. With 26:35 remaining, W&J sophomore Joe Perhacs found the net on a penalty kick to put the Presidents ahead, 2-1.
FSU remained calm and at 13:11 junior Steve Brett (Fort Hill/Cumberland, Md.) tied the game when he slammed a ball into the goal at point-blank range off an assist from sophomore Jason Brooks (Eleanor Roosevelt/Greenbelt, Md.).
The Bobcats outshot the Presidents, 21-5.
FSU, now 7-5-2, returns to action on Friday when it visits conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg at 3:00 pm.
