— The Frostburg State men’s soccer team defeated Hilbert 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Trevor Havey (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) got FSU on the board first with his seventh goal of the season in the 62nd minute off a feed from freshman Eric Whisman (Severn, Md./Glen Burnie).
In the 79th minute, freshman Bryan Lee (Silver Spring, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) added his second goal of the season.
Freshman Kenny Dotter (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) sealed the victory with his fourth goal of the season with freshman Justin Ports (Baltimore, Md./North County) collecting the assist in the 86th minute.
Sophomore Tom Sadler (Silver Spring, Md./Sandy Spring Friends) picked up his fourth win of the season, making five saves in the shutout.
“We came out very flat today,” said Head Coach Keith Byrnes. “We started the second half with a lot of intensity and we played much better. We got back on track with this win and we came out of the weekend healthy, two things that will help us prepare for Penn State Altoona.”
Frosturg State improves to 8-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference while Hilbert falls to 0-10 overall and 0-5 in AMCC action.
The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday when they visit Penn State Altoona at 7:00 pm.
