Men's Soccer Unveils 2007 Schedule
06/06/2007

FROSTBURG, Md. - For the second-straight season, FSU will open the year at home with the Frostburg State University Invitational Tournament. In this year’s tournament, the Bobcats will take on Hood and Catholic. FSU will look to avenge last season’s road loss to Hood (2-1) and a 2005 loss at Catholic (2-1).

The non-conference schedule doesn’t get any easier as FSU will once again face Bethany (14-4-3,) and Franklin & Marshall (13-4-3) who both competed in NCAA Tournament last season. F&M and Bethany also finished the season as the 3rd and 5th ranked teams in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Bobcats have picked up a few new opponents to round out this years non-conference schedule including; St. Vincent, Waynesburg and Shenandoah.

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference will present a tough challenge again when FSU faces defending champion Medaille (20-1-1). MC led the nation in goals scored and was the number one ranked team in the Northeast Region according to D3 Kicks.com. The Mavericks also advanced to NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive season. The Bobcats will also have to get past Penn State Altoona (14-4-2). The Lions knocked FSU out of the AMCC semifinals with a 1-0 win and advanced to the ECAC Tournament for the third-straight season.

Frostburg State has earned a spot in the AMCC Tournament semifinals in each of the past five seasons under the direction of sixth-year head coach Keith Byrnes.
