The Frostburg State men's tennis team got back on the winning track with a 5-2 road win over non-conference opponent Goucher (1-8) Tuesday.
FSU junior Justin Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) won his 14th match on the year against only 2 losses with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Josh Sofer in No. 1 singles.
In No. 2 singles action, sophomore Gary Lyst (Silver Spring, Md./Blair) also captured a Bobcat victory, winning 6-2, 7-6 over the Gophers' Reid Anderson.
FSU senior Sean Shillinger (Darnestown, Md./Quince Orchard), sophomore Andrew Spangenberg (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and junior Pete Della-Luna (Moshpee, Mass./Longmeadow) all won singles matches to close out GC.
Shillinger won at No. 3 over Dave Vermeire 6-1, 6-2. Spangenberg beat Goucher's Dan Gerstenblith by the same score in fourth-seeded singles. Della-Luna lost his only game of the match in the second set against Dan Parker.
Stephens and Lyst rolled to a 8-2 victory in the top doubles flight. Goucher was only able to win one contested match, No. 2 doubles when Shillinger and Della-luna slipped against Sofer and Vermeire.
The Bobcats (10-6, 3-2 AMCC) return to action tomorrow at 3:00 when they host Pitt Greensburg for an AMCC match.
