Men's Tennis Falls to Washington & Jefferson

WASHINGTON, PA – The Frostburg State men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with an 8-1 loss to Washington & Jefferson Friday afternoon at the Janet L. Swanson Tennis Courts.

Junior Gary Lyst (Silver Spring, Md./Blair) picked up FSU's lone point with a win at No. 1 singles, where he defeated Ehren Frey 6-4, 6-3.

The Presidents (7-2) swept four singles and two doubles matches and picked up two forfeit wins as well.

In singles action, senior Pete Della-Luna (Moshpee, Mass./Longmeadow) fell to Gary Tan 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2, and senior Dustin Robinson (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Ali Nemazee at No. 3.

Junior Jacob Helms (Linthicum, Md./North County) was beaten by Doug Johnston 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, while freshman Andrew Holt (Harwood, Md./Southern) lost to Derrick Guneratne by the same score at No. 5.

Adam Boehm won by forfeit at No. 6.

In doubles play, Della-Luna and Robinson dropped an 8-3 contest to Frey and Tan at No. 1 , and Holt and Helms lost to Boehm and Johnston by an 8-2 score at No. 2.

FSU forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.

The Bobcats (5-11) return to action Saturday at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships to be held at Penn State Behrend College in Erie, Pa.
