GREENSBURG, Pa. —
Playing without its No. 1 and No. 6 players, the Frostburg State men’s tennis team dropped a 5-4 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match to Pitt-Greensburg Thursday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
FSU (1-7, 1-4 AMCC) lost the top two doubles flights by 8-5 scores before freshman Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) and sophomore Andrew Thomas (La Plata, Md./Thomas Stone) paired for an 8-5 win at the third spot.
Senior Andrew Spangenberg (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and Chisholm were straight-sets winners at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and freshman John Thrasher (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) picked up another win in straight sets at No. 4.
However, Pitt-Greensburg (1-9, 1-4) posted wins at the Nos. 3, 5 and 6 spots to earn its first team victory in 26 matches dating back to April 2, 2003.
FSU returns to action Friday when it hosts Dickinson in a non-conference match starting at 3 pm.
