Remember the first time you stepped onto Frostburg State University’s campus, dreaming about what the future would hold? Recapture that feeling of excitement and wonder with FSU’s “Mirror to the Past, Window to the Future” Homecoming 2007.
FSU will celebrate Homecoming from Thursday, Oct. 18, to Sunday, Oct. 21. This year’s homecoming will include the traditional Lip Sync, tailgating, Step-Show and a chance to enjoy two new events this year, a planting event and an all-campus sing.
The festivities officially kick off on Thursday evening as Delta Chi hosts its 19th annual Lip Sync at 8 p.m. in the Cordts PE Center Main Arena, with student groups dancing along to their favorite songs and competing for the title of best performance.
Looking for a change of pace and a brighter future? Come to the campus-wide Career Expo to hear alumni talk about their careers on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information and a schedule of presentations, contact Donna Sivic at (301) 687-4403.
Come ready to cheer for your Bobcats at the Bobcat Growl & Homecoming Court Coronation from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Cordts Main Arena. Meet up with classmates, enjoy music, participate in contests, meet players and coaches, witness student talent, find out who will be crowned King and Queen and more at this annual pep rally.
Feel the excitement of a live performance in the Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre with University Theatre’s production of the musical “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim, presented Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for non-students on Friday and $5 for everyone in a “Roll Back the Years” special for both Saturday performances.
Wake up on Saturday for Kidsinger Jim and Greg May at 10 a.m. Bring the little ones along to the Clock Tower Quad and enjoy a spectacular performance by the region’s most talented children’s entertainers. It is guaranteed fun for the whole family.
Stop by the Alumni Welcome Center in the upstairs lobby of the Lane University Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Take five minutes to register, receive a gift, leave a message for classmates, have your picture taken, look though old yearbooks and learn how to become more involved with FSU.
Take a walking campus tour of campus to see what has changed over the years. The two one-hour tours will start in the Lane University Center at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Get ready for the game Bobcat-style with a tailgating party in the stadium lot below the Cordts PE Center on Saturday at 11 a.m. Take a break at 1 p.m. to cheer your Bobcats to victory as they take on Union College in Bobcat Stadium. Then head back out to tailgate for another hour after the game is over.
Give back to the community with the Glories Happy Hats Homecoming Service Project, making soft, colorful, jester-like hats to brighten the lives of children suffering from serious illnesses. Join us at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lane University Center room 201.
Join us later at 2:30 p.m. to contribute to the environmentally friendly future of FSU by participating in the very first “Gettin’ Down and Dirty” planting event. Help us start a new tradition by planting the first plants of the brand new Alumni Grove.
The always popular National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show steps off at 5 p.m. in the Cordts PE Center Main Arena. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for non-students. Then celebrate afterwards from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Black Student Alliance After Jam Party, also in the Main Arena. Tickets ordered in advance are $3 for students and $6 for non-students. The day of the show all tickets are $6.
Connect with old friends at the All Alumni Reception from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday in the Lane University Center’s Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall. Reminisce about old days and discuss future endeavors with alumni of all ages. Light appetizers, musical entertainment and a cash bar will be available.
All alumni who want to be involved in the future of FSU are invited to the open Alumni Board of Directors meeting Sunday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Cordts PE Center Leake Room. Wind up the fun-filled weekend on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Performing Arts Center’s Pealer Recital Hall with a new event, the All-Campus Sing. Tickets are $2.50 for students, $5 for non-students. Children under 12 are admitted free.
