CENTERVILLE, Mass. —
Junior infielder Brett Mitchell (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford)
and freshman pitcher Katelyn Coffey (Middletown, Md./Middletown)
have been name Eastern College Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, Wednesday.
Mitchell was 6-for-8 with three doubles, three runs and three RBIs to help the Bobcats sweep Penn State Altoona last week and remain atop the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference standings. Mitchell is currently fourth in the AMCC in doubles (9), sixth in RBIs (17) and total bases (36) and seventh in slugging percentage (.600).
Coffey threw a perfect game in her only outing of the week. In the second game of a doubleheader against Penn State Altoona, she tossed 7.0 innings while striking out 12 of the 21 batters she faced. FSU won the game 4-0 to earn the sweep after downing the Lions 4-2 in the opener. On the season, Coffey is 4-4 overall and 2-0 against the AMCC. She holds a 0.00 earned run average against the conference after holding the league scoreless in 14.0 innings pitched.
The FSU baseball team is 16-9 overall and 5-1 in the conference while the softball team is 6-12 overall and 3-1 in the confernce.
