FROSTBURG, MD —
Felix Moreno announced Monday his resignation as the head coach of the Frostburg State track & field programs to accept a similar position for both the cross country and track & field teams at NCAA Division I St. Francis University.
Moreno’s final day at FSU will be Tuesday, January 30, and he will begin at St. Francis on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
“I have certainly appreciated both being a part of such an outstanding institution as Frostburg State University and more so the opportunities that were provided to me during the last five and a half years,” said Moreno.
“I want to thank everyone for their support, guidance, and encouragement during my time at Frostburg State. I certainly will miss the Bobcats and the community and I will continue to support Frostburg; at the same time, I am looking forward to this new challenge and new phase of my career.”
Moreno, who joined FSU in 2001, leaves after a very successful tenure while with the Bobcats. His Frostburg State highlights include 22 NCAA qualifiers, four NCAA all-americans and two NCAA top-ranked female athletes. He also had 50 Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifiers and two ECAC champions.
Moreno had 22 All-Mason-Dixon Conference runners and he was named the league’s Women’s Coach of the Year in 2005. His runners have also set 13 FSU school records.
“I want to thank all of the individuals who were a part of the track and field program during my time at Frostburg State,” said Moreno. “Thanks to everyone for the support and commitment to excellence as a track & field athlete.”
St. Francis is located in Loretto, Pa. and boasts a 20-sport athletic department.
