National wellness expert Scott Cole, star of the “Abs of Steel” video series, will present a series of interactive “Focus on Fitness” workshops at Frostburg State University over the course of two days. These presentations, all free and open to the public, are designed to increase “wellness literacy” in all participants.
On Thursday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m., in Lane University Center 201, Cole will present “East-West Fusion: Where Power Meets Grace,” a practical blend of healing arts coupled with philosophical discussion that combines both lecture and light movement designed to help participants attract new energy into their lives.
On Friday, Sept. 7, at 9 a.m. in the Lane University Center Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall, Cole will focus on relaxation techniques that allow for the release of pent-up negative energy – yoga, tai chi, qigong, stretching, guided imagery, and more – in the program, “Lighten Up, Loosen Up, LET GO!!!” Movements in this one-hour session can be modified for all levels of exercisers.
Friday afternoon at 3 p.m., also in Manicur Assembly Hall, martial arts will meet dance in “Disco Dojo.” Expect to sweat, scream, kick, punch, dance and stretch in this martial-cardio ultimate groove session that features music from the ‘70s to today. All levels of expertise are welcome.
Cole was named one of the Top 5 Fitness Instructors in the world by the health and fitness association IDEA, and his health and wellness expertise is sought out regularly by such television shows as “The View,” the CBS “Early Show,” “LIVE with Regis and Kelly” and CNN Headline News, as well as publications ranging from “Men’s Fitness” to “The Wall Street Journal.”
