Nightsun Summer Writers Conference to be Held in Frostburg
04/03/2008

The Frostburg State University Center for Creative Writing is holding its first Nightsun Summer Writer’s Conference for local and regional writers from July 31 to Aug. 3, at Failinger’s Gunter Hotel in Frostburg.

The conference will feature workshops with creative non-fiction writer Barb Hurd, poetry writer Gerry LeFemina and fiction writer Richard Peabody. The weekend will also include readings by participants, workshop faculty and special guests including Dustin Smith, author of “Key Grip: A Memoir of Endless Consequences,” and Steven Dunn, author of “The Insistence of Beauty and Everything Else in the World” and winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize in poetry.

Students also have the opportunity to meet with workshop facilitators for a personal one-on-one consultation to discuss their work.

The program is designed to provide participants with workshop opportunities, individualized attention and feedback to their work, and to initiate a larger writing community for Frostburg and the surrounding region. During this workshop, all students will have an opportunity to generate new material for publications.

Registration is required. Forms are available at the center’s Web site at www.frostburg/cwcenter. For more information, contact Gerry LaFemina, Department of English at Frostburg State University at nightsun@frostburg.edu or 301-687-4024.
