"Nine Italian Painters" Art Opening Delayed
08/13/2003

Due to a problem with the shipping of artwork, the opening reception for the exhibition by nine contemporary Italian painters has been postponed. The reception will now be held on Friday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Roper Fine Arts Gallery.

The nine painters slated to exhibit their works include:

Daniele Bianchi was born in Rome and graduated from the Venice Academy of fine arts. In 1993, he participated in XLV Exposition International of Art in Venice. Many of his works may be found in public and private collections in Europe.

Sara Campesan was born in Mestre where she lives today. Her file is in the Historic Archives of the Biennial of Venice. She has participated in two Venice Biennial Exhibitions and personal shows at the Sala of the Italian Embassy in Madrid.

Allessandro Castro was born in Venice and completed his early studies at the Fine Arts High School there. He exhibited in various regions and cities in Italy and has participated in numerous exhibitions and group shows both in Italy and abroad with various galleries and cultural institutions.

Cesare Circonciso was born in Catania where he lives and operates the Laboratory of Contemporary Art of Catania. He works throughout Italy and Europe and has personal shows at the Italian Camera di Commercio in Paris.

Ferruccio Gard was born in Vestignè (Torino), but now lives and works in Venice. His artworks have been reviewed in various publications ranging from specialized journals to newspapers. His research has made him known as one of the most famous exponents of Italian abstractionism.

Livia Poenaru was born in Romania, and lives and works in Paris and Venice. She is a professor of genetics at the University of Paris. Well-know art critics have presented her exhibitions.

Chiara Somma was born in Gragnano (Napoli) and now lives and works in Venice. She is presented in many collections of art exhibitions in Italy. Her works are published in the Italian Art Catalogue “ELITE” 2001-2002.

Silvana Scarpa lives in Venice, where she was born. She is a graduate of the school of The Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Her works are in the museum in Vaticano. She is listed in the “Encyclopedia of Contemporary Art.”

Paola Volpato was born in Venice. She was invited to the Quadrennial National of Roma in the historic section “Arte Come Visitazione Dei Linguaggi.” She has exhibited her works in museums and galleries in France, Austra, Sweden and Denmark.

The exhibit, which is sponsored by the FSU Center for International Education, will be open from Sunday through Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. until Thursday, Sept. 28.
