No. 5 Seeded Men's Basketball Travels to No. 4 Seeded Hilbert for Opening Roung of AMCC Tournament

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State men’s basketball team will travel to Hilbert tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm for the opening round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament.

The No. 5 seeded Bobcats enter the tournament with a 10-15 overall record and an even 9-9 AMCC mark while the fourth seeded Hawks are 13-12 overall and 9-9 in the league.

HC swept FSU during the regular season winning by the scores of 83-59 and 86-69.

The Bobcats, losers of four straight, are powered by junior Antione McCall (Essex, Md./Eastern Tech) who is averaging 14.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. He is currently 12th in the conference in scoring.

Senior Dale DeBerry (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) is second on the team and 15th in the AMCC averaging 13.0 ppg. DeBerry is also second on the team in steals (30) and seventh in the league in free throw percentage (80.9).

Junior Keith Hazel (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) is the third Bobcat in double figures, averaging 10.4 ppg. He leads the team with 28 three-pointers and is fifth in the league in three-point percentage (40.0).

As a team, Frostburg State is second in the conference in rebounding (38.1), third in steals (9.88), fourth in rebounding defense (36.3) and fifth in field goal percentage defense (44.6).

Hilbert is led by Dallas Reinard averaging 21.9 points per game followed by Glenn Ufland with 14.9 ppg. Ron Dussett leads the Hawks in rebounding (5.8).

HC ended the regular season winning four of its final five games.

The winner of the FSU/HC matchup, will advance to the face host and top-seeded Lake Erie Storm on Friday in the semifinals at 6:00 pm.

The AMCC Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid the NCAA Division III Tournament.
