CENTERVILLE, MASS —
Frostburg State senior defensive tackle George O'Brien (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore)
added to his weekly honors by being named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southwestern Defensive Player of the Week for his performance this past Saturday.
O'Brien made nine tackles, including six solo stops, two for loss and 1.5 sacks, and added an interception that led to a touchdown to help FSU to a convincing 38-17 win over two-time defending Atlantic Central Football Conference champion Wesley.
O'Brien, who helped the Bobcat defense hold the Wolverines to just 36 rushing yards, was named the ACFC Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday as well.
Junior running back Edward Kearney (Bel Air, Md./Calvert) was named to the ECAC Southwest Honor Roll after rushing for 122 yards and two touchdowns and adding an 11-yard scoring pass in the victory.
He was named the ACFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday when they visit Catholic for a 1:00 pm contest.
