The “Red Team” of Joe Pace
, Lou Femi
, Lynn Lewis
and Larry Housel
shot a low ball gross 73 to win the team championship of the Frostburg State University Wells Field Golf Tournament held April 7th at Maryland National Golf Course, Meyersville, Md.
Losing in the card off and finishing second was the “Gold Team” of Bernie Wynder, Ralph Brewer, Jeff Krone and Butch Young.
Third place honors were garned by the “Black Team” of Joe Short, Gene Zumpano, Soup Campbell and Jack Aylor with a 76.
Fourth place with a 78 was the “Green Team” of Ken Coffey, Carl Rihard, Jim Santos and Paul Schafer.
The two-man one ball, low gross championship was won with a 76 and determined in a three-way card-off with
Zumpano and Brewer taking first, Coffey/Pace in second and Lewis/Young in third. Honors for long drive were won by Brewer and closest to the pin was Schaffer.
The tournament sponsored by the Frostburg State University Bobcat Club benefited the fundraising campaign to build a press box and seating facility at the FSU Bob Wells Baseball Field.
