- Junior Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.)
was recently named to the first team of the CoSIDA Academic All-District II Volleyball Team and is now in the running to be selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team (selections to be announced December 4th). Petrick is an Accounting major carrying a 3.935 G.P.A.
Petrick, who was named 2003 AMCC Player of the Year, was named to the All-AMCC first team for the third straight season as well as 2003 Player of the Year. She ranks second in the conference with 3.63 kills per game, third with 0.65 service aces per game, eighth with a .262 hitting percentage and ninth with 2.88 digs per game.
“She is the most dynamic hitter in the conference and this is a tribute to her hard work and leadership,” commented head coach Jeff Billington. “It is very well deserved.”
Petrick, who was named the AMCC 2002 Co-Player of the Year and 2003 Preseason Player of the Year, set a FSU career record with 213 service aces and also recorded her 1,000th career kill this season. She also owns the single-season record with her 88 service aces in 2002.
Petrick has guided the Bobcats to their sixth conference title in the past seven seasons and their second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
