Phi Delta Kappa Speaker to Discuss "Using Your Humor IQ"

Claudia Comett will speak on “Using Your Humor IQ” at the meeting of the Tri-State Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa on April 1, at 7 p.m. in Frostburg State University’s Ort Library Room 237.

Comett is professor emeritus of education at Wittenberg University where she was honored with a Distinguished Teaching Award. During her tenure at Wittenberg she directed the Reading Center and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy methodology and integrating literature and arts throughout the curriculum.

Comett is the author of numerous books and articles about using the arts as teaching tools, literacy, bibliotherapy, children’s literature and the strategic use of humor. In 2002 Phi Delta Kappa published her article, "Learning Through Laughter II."

A frequent presenter in staff development activities, she has also delivered keynote addresses for educators throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. Her most current research focuses on interventions for struggling readers and writers and the most effective teaching of phonics.
