National Sorority Joining With Local Kappa Tau Epsilon
Phi Mu, the nation’s second oldest sorority, has been invited to open at Frostburg State University during the next school year, after an absence of about a decade. Phi Mu will reopen its Phi Iota Chapter by recruiting new members and absorbing the local sorority Kappa Tau Epsilon, an organization that values sisterhood, leadership, responsibility and philanthropic endeavors.
“We are so excited to recolonize our Phi Iota Chapter at Frostburg,” says National Vice President Communication and Extension Andie Burkett Kash. Many area alumnae have already expressed an interest in assisting with recruitment and volunteering as chapter advisers, she said. National President Robin White Fanning as well as several national and area officers will be visiting during recruitment.
Phi Mu’s addition to Frostburg has been met with enthusiasm from students and administration alike. Jamie Winters, assistant director for Student Activities and Greek Life, is excited about what the next year holds for Greek life at Frostburg. “We are looking forward to adding Phi Mu to our Greek community. Many of our undergraduate women who are not affiliated with a sorority are eager to learn more about what Phi Mu has to offer. Our other Greek organizations have shown nothing but support for Phi Mu and are delighted to have them on campus.”
“Phi Mu will recruit members during the 2009–2010 school year,” says Kash. More information about Phi Mu can be found at www.phimu.org, and further questions may be directed to Extension Coordinator Christy Todd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
