"Radicals in Our Town: The Antislavery Movement in Thoreau's Concord" to Be Presented at FSU
Allegany College of Maryland and the Department of History at Frostburg State University will present "Radicals in Our Town: The Antislavery Movement in Thoreau's Concord,” a lecture on the antislavery movement on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in Dunkle Hall 218, Frostburg State University. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Sandra Petrulionis, professor of English and American Studies at Penn State Altoona, has written numerous books including “To Set This World Right: The Antislavery Movement in Thoreau’s Concord,” as well as the forthcoming “A Century of Revolution: A Cultural Biography of Thomas Wentworth Higginson and Thoreau in His Own Time: A Biographical Chronicle of His Life, Drawn From Recollections, Interviews and Memoirs by Family, Friends and Associates.”

Petrulionis received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Ralph Waldo Emerson Memorial Association at Harvard University,and Penn State University’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities. Later this year, she will be a 2010 Fulbright Senior Lecturer at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Germany.
