Reese, Wilkins Earn FSU Athlete of the Year Honors
05/13/2002

FROSTBURG, MD — Senior Cindy Reese (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and junior Tim Wilkins (Baltimore, Md./Mervo) were named Athletes of the Year at the Frostburg State Athletics Awards Banquet last night at the Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center.

Reese enjoyed a stellar season as a member of three Bobcat teams. She scored three goals and tied for the team lead with nine assists to help the field hockey squad to a 7-9 finish.

She then won both the 1- and 3-meter diving titles at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Swimming & Diving Championships as the Bobcats captured their second straight conference crown. Reese set an AMCC Championships record with 311.70 points in the 3-meter event.

She completed her year as a pole vaulter on the Bobcat outdoor track and field team, highlighting her season by winning the Frostburg State Invitational.

Reese still has a year of athletic eligibility remaining in diving and track and field and will return to compete in both sports next season.

Wilkins posted an outstanding year as a member of both the Bobcat football and baseball squads.

As a wide receiver on the gridiron, he earned first-team All-Atlantic Central Football Conference honors after catching 52 passes for 646 yards and eight touchdowns.

He set a single-game school record with 210 receiving yards against Catholic, and he capped the year by snaring a 13-yard touchdown pass in overtime to give FSU a thrilling 30-27 win over rival Salisbury in the Regents' Cup Game at RFK Stadium.

On the baseball diamond, Wilkins garnered second-team All-AMCC honors as an outfielder after leading FSU with a .398 batting average, six home runs, 69 total bases and a .704 slugging percentage.

He added 39 hits, 36 RBI, 31 runs, eight doubles, eight stolen bases and two triples.
