Reeves, Hardy Earn First Collegiate Wins as Women's Tennis Falls to Penn State Altoona

Senior Charlena Reeves (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett)
and freshman Kim Hardy (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's)
each earned their first collegiate singles victories, but Frostburg State still fell to Penn State Altoona 7-2 in women's tennis action Monday afternoon.
The Lions improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, while the Bobcats fell to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the league.
Reeves was a 7-5, 6-0 winner over Erica Eckman at No. 5 singles, while Hardy posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory against Ashley Mills at the No. 6 singles flight.
The Bobcats played tough in doubles action, dropping two flights by 8-5 decisions.
Reeves and senior Aimee Mendoza (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) fell to Julie Bolinger and Elyse Holyvak at No. 2, and senior Rachel Sooy (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) and junior Amber Stewart (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) were edged by Eckman and Mills.
Frostburg State returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson at 3:00 pm.
