Frostburg State University in Western Maryland is inviting dancers from the tri-state area to "Movin' in Maryland: A Shared Concert Dance Experience," at FSU's Mainstage Spring 2004 Dance Concert on April 29 and 30 and May 1 and 2.
The networking and dance performance experience will feature FSU's Dance Company and a distinguished classical ballet guest performer (to be announced), all under the artistic direction of Dr. Barry Fischer. The invitation is open to students at colleges, dance studios and public middle and high schools, as well as professional dancers. Each participant will have an opportunity to showcase original choreography. The piece's running time must be no longer than five minutes. The work must be original by a faculty or guest choreographer, set to music on CD. Music shared for the work must begin and end as it is heard on the CD.
Space and time will be limited to those participating. The deadline to make a reservation is March 15. Details will be sent after that date by e-mail. There will be a schedule for rehearsal times for all participants and a dress rehearsal one week prior to the performing dates.
The concert will be held in FSU's Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre at 8 p.m. on April 29 and 30 and May 1, and at 2 p.m. on May 2. Join us and dance in this first-time gathering for tri-state dance performers.
