GIBSONIA, Pa. -
Junior Ryan Rice (Hampton, Va./Shape American)
was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegaite Conference men’s tennis Player of the Week, Monday.
Rice earned his first weekly award after recording victories in both No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles at this past weekend’s AMCC Championship. Rice earned the singles title after shutting out UPG’s Matt Marsella in the opening round 6-0, 6-0 and defeating Altoona’s Andy Brunhuber 6-3, 6-1 in the finals.
In doubles, he then combined with senior Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) to win the crown after downing PSA’s tandem of Pat Cooper/Brunhuber, 8-3.
On the season, Rice finished with a 10-4 overall record in singles play and a 9-5 mark in doubles.
The men’s tennis team finished the season 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
