LEWISBURG, Pa. —
Sophomore Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest)
captured another school record in a stellar performance as she led the Frostburg State track & field teams at the Bucknell Bison Open, Saturday.
Rohrs, who set the school record in the 55-meter hurdles last weekend at the Collegeville Classic, captured the win, automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships and set the school record in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.72. She held the previous mark of 8.93.
In the 60-meter dash, Rohrs captured fifth and qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships with a time of 7.87. She was just 0.02 seconds off the NCAA Championships provisional standard. Rohrs also qualified for the ECAC Championships and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 25.71.
Junior Jessica Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) also notched three stellar performances. She qualified for the ECAC Championships in all three events after placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.19) and seventh in both the 60-meter dash (7.93) and 200-meter dash (26.54).
Sophomore Jennifer Patton (Barton, Md./Westmar) took home 11th in the 5,000-meter run in 19:57.29.
Junior David Cheeks (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) powered the men’s team after qualifying for the ECAC Championships in both of his individual events. He finished third in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 23.02 and was fourth in the 60-meter dash in 7.06.
Sophomore Michael Siemann (Frostburg, Md./Bishop Walsh) was 11th in the 500-meter run (1:10.87) and 16th in the long jump with a distance of 5.76-meters.
Sophomore Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) finished seventh in the 800-meter run (1:59.24), senior Andy Watson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) was 10th in the one mile run (4:30.28) and freshman Michael O’Brien (Baltimore, Md./Arundel) was 10th in the high jump (1.86 meters).
Senior Andrew Parker (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) recorded 20th in the 5,000-meter run (16:31.10) and sophomore Steven Flanagan (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) was 32nd in the 800-meter run in a personal best, 2:10.77.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Cheeks, Leiter, Flanagan and Siemann were ninth in 3:33.58.
Frostburg State returns to action on February 3 when it travels to the Ursinus Invite in Collegeville, Pa.
