COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. —
Sophomore Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest)
set the school record in the 55-meter hurdles and finished fourth in the 55-meter dash Friday at the Collegeville Classic on the campus of Ursinus College.
It was the second time this season that FSU has competed at Ursinus. The Bobcats ran at the Ursinus College Winter Classic in early December.
Rohrs won the 55-meter hurdles and set the record with a time of 8.28, beating the old mark of 8.31 set by Gail Brown in 1986. Rohrs also captured a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter dash (7.50).
Junior David Cheeks (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) was the only other track and field athlete to compete. He captured second and set a season best time in a close finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.54. Cyrus Wesley of Cheyney won the event in 6.52.
Cheeks also finished third in the 200-meter dash in 23.03, just behind second-place finisher Tony Hegedus of Kutztown (23.00).
Frostburg State returns to action on January 26-27 at the Bucknell Bison Open.
